The Assistant answers questions about one pet from everything you've logged for them.
It can also log activities and change reminders for you, after you confirm.
To open it, go to your pet's screen and tap the yellow button, whose label is Ask about and then your pet's name.
What you can ask
- How much or how often: "How many walks has Max had this week?"
- When something last happened: "When did Max last go potty?"
- Patterns over time: "How well is Max sleeping?"
- Missed medication doses: "Did Max miss any doses this week?"
- What's in your documents: "When is Max's rabies vaccine due?"
- Pet care tips and training guides.
It only knows what you've logged in Doggy Time, for the pet you opened it from.
What it can change for you
- Log an activity, for example "Log a 30 minute walk for Max".
- Update your pet's profile.
- Add, change or delete a reminder.
- Open a report you can share with your vet.
Before it saves anything, the Assistant shows a Please confirm card with the details.
Nothing is saved until you tap Confirm.
Once it is saved, you'll see a line that starts with "Saved:" in the chat.
Where to find it
- Tap your pet on the main screen.
- On the Activities, Insights or Care & Info tab, tap the yellow button in the bottom corner.
You can also reach it from Help.
When you ask Help about something you've logged, it offers Ask the Assistant.
If you have more than one pet, pick one under Which pet?.
Turn off the floating button
- On the main screen, tap the gear icon, then Settings.
- Turn off Floating Assistant Button.
You can still open the Assistant from the card on your pet's Insights tab.
More things you can do
- Tap the microphone to dictate your question instead of typing.
- Touch and hold a message, then tap Copy message.
- Touch and hold one of the Assistant's answers, then tap Share.
- Tap the trash icon at the top to start over.
This permanently clears your conversation about that pet.
Premium
The Assistant is part of Premium.
Without Premium, you'll see a sample conversation and the button Upgrade to chat about with your pet's name.
In Help, the button reads Unlock the Assistant.
See What's free and what's in Premium.
Help and the Assistant are different
Help answers questions about how to use the app, your account and your subscription.
It can't see what you've logged.
The Assistant can, so ask it about your pet's walks, meals and other entries.
Privacy
Your conversation is private to you, and other people on your team can't see it.
The app keeps your questions, the changes you confirmed and the Assistant's final answers.
Troubleshooting
- "You've reached today's chat limit. Please try again tomorrow."
There is a daily limit on questions.
Try again the next day.
- "Something went wrong. Please try again."
Check your internet connection and send your question again.
- "Your change was saved, but I couldn't finish replying."
Your change is saved.
Only the reply is missing, so you don't need to ask again.
- "To dictate messages, allow microphone and speech recognition access in your device settings."
Turn on microphone and speech recognition for Doggy Time in your phone's settings.
- I don't see the yellow button.
It doesn't appear on the Reminders, Progress, Documents or Settings tabs.
If it's missing on every tab, check that Floating Assistant Button is turned on.
