How to use Siri and app icon shortcuts in Doggy Time
Ask Siri to log a pee in Doggy Time, or touch and hold the Doggy Time icon to jump to logging. Siri needs Premium and iOS 18 or later; icon shortcuts are free.
Log a pee or a meal with your voice while your hands are full, and ask Siri when your pet last went. You can also touch and hold the Doggy Time icon to jump straight to logging.
What you need
- Doggy Time Premium for Siri. The shortcuts on the app icon are free.
- An iPhone with iOS 18 or later for Siri.
- Open Doggy Time once after you update it, so Siri knows your pets.
Ask Siri to log something
Say:
- "Log a pee in Doggy Time"
- "Log a poop in Doggy Time"
- "Log for Max in Doggy Time"
If you have more than one pet, Siri asks Which pet? Siri logs it right away, at the time you asked, and tells you, for example "Logged Pee for Max at 2:14 PM." The entry syncs to everyone who shares your pet, like one you log in the app.
Siri can log Pee, Poop, Eat, Drink, Treat, Accident, Grooming and Cleaning. For anything else, such as a walk, a medication or a weight, Siri asks you to open Doggy Time.
If your iPhone is locked, Siri asks you to unlock it before it logs anything. To fix a mistake, open the entry in Doggy Time and delete it.
Ask Siri about your pet
Say:
- "When was the last pee in Doggy Time" to hear how long ago it was and at what time.
- "How is Max doing today in Doggy Time" to hear what was logged for Max today.
- "Ask Doggy Time about Max" to open the chat about Max.
If your phone hasn't synced for a while, Siri starts its answer with "As of" and the time, because someone else may have logged since then.
Use the Shortcuts app or the Action button
Open the Shortcuts app, tap All Shortcuts, and look under Starter Shortcuts to find Doggy Time's shortcuts. You can run them from there, add them to your Home Screen, or set one on the Action button, for example to log a pee with one press.
Shortcuts on the app icon
Touch and hold the Doggy Time icon to see Log Pee for, Log Poop for and Start a walk for with your pet's name, for the pets you logged for most recently. Tap one to open that entry for your pet, then tap Save. These are free, on iPhone and Android.
Troubleshooting
- Siri says "Open Doggy Time once to set up Siri.": open Doggy Time, then ask Siri again.
- Siri says "Siri shortcuts are part of Doggy Time Premium.": Siri is part of Doggy Time Premium.
- Siri says "Sign in to Doggy Time to use Siri.": sign in to Doggy Time, then ask again.
- Siri says "Still saving. Open Doggy Time to check it.": open Doggy Time; it finishes saving the entry, so don't log it again.
- Siri says "I don't have today's totals for Max yet.": open Doggy Time once today, then ask again.
- Siri doesn't know your new pet's name: open Doggy Time, then ask again.
