A time window means a chore can only be done between two times, like 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Once the window closes, kids can no longer check it off, and its reward is lost for that day.
Time windows are a premium feature.
Set a time window
You need to be a Household Manager.
- Create a chore, or open one, tap the three dots at the top right and tap Edit.
- Turn on Time Window.
- Tap the time next to From and pick when the chore opens.
- Tap the time next to Until and pick when it closes.
- Tap Save.
The end time has to be after the start time, on the same day.
Chores that repeat during the day
If Repeats During the Day is on, each time gets its own window.
Turn on Time Window, then tap the time next to Until on each row.
Each time opens at its own time and closes at its Until time.
What kids see
- The chore shows when it can be done, for example "Open 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM".
- Before the window opens, the tasks can't be checked off yet.
- After it closes, the chore shows Missed if it wasn't done, and it can't be checked off anymore.
- The Take Photo button is hidden while the chore is closed.
A Household Manager can still check off tasks after the window closes, for example to fix a mistake.
A chore with a closed window doesn't show in the Overdue list, because it can't be done late.
Rotating chores
If a rotating chore holds the turn until it's done, a missed window passes the turn on to the next person.
See How chore rotations work.
Take something away for a missed chore
You can also take points or money away when a chore isn't done in time.
See How missed-chore penalties work.
Troubleshooting
- "The end time has to be after the start time"
Pick an Until time later than the From time.
- "Opens at ..."
The window hasn't opened yet. Come back at that time.
- "Time's up! It closed at ..."
The window has closed. A Household Manager can still check it off.
- The Time Window switch is yellow
Time windows need premium.
