How to see when the next-dose window opens

After you log a dose, Fever Whiz shows when the suggested next-dose window for that medication opens. The window is the time of the last dose plus the medication's interval, for example 6 hours. It is a suggestion based on the interval saved for the medication, not medical advice. Always follow the label and your pediatrician's advice.

On your child's screen

Open your child. The Next-dose window card on the Activities tab lists each medication with a window:

  • Last dose and the time it was given.
  • Opens around and the time the window opens, with the time left.
  • Open since and the time, once the window has opened.

A medication stays on the card until 12 hours after its window opens. If you give a dose of more than one medication, each one has its own row.

On the home screen, each child's card shows the next window to open at the bottom, for example Opens around 3:40 PM. It leaves an hour after the window opens.

The card and the home screen line are free.

On your Lock Screen

Fever Whiz can show the countdown outside the app, so you can check it without unlocking your phone:

  • iPhone: on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
  • Android: in an ongoing notification.

It shows the medication whose window opens next, with up to two more below it. When the window opens, it says Next-dose window open, and it leaves an hour later. Tap it to open your child in Fever Whiz.

The Lock Screen countdown is part of Fever Whiz Premium. If you don't have Premium, tap Show on Lock Screen on the Next-dose window card to see your options.

On an iPhone, the countdown appears once the window is less than 8 hours away. For a longer interval, such as 12 hours, open Fever Whiz later and it appears then.

Get a notification when the window opens

With the Lock Screen countdown on, Fever Whiz also notifies you when the window opens, for example "The suggested next-dose window opened at 3:40 PM. You can give the next dose now." Everyone caring for your child who has the countdown on gets it, so a dose logged on another phone moves everyone's notification.

If you already have a Smart reminder for the same medication at the same time, you only get the reminder.

Turn the Lock Screen countdown off

  1. Open the menu (the gear icon on the home screen) and tap Settings.
  2. Turn off Next-dose countdown on Lock Screen.

This only changes this phone. The card on your child's screen stays.

Stop the countdown when you're done giving a medication

When your child doesn't need another dose, stop the countdown so it doesn't keep showing or notify you:

  1. Open your child.
  2. On the Next-dose window card, tap the ⋮ button in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Stop the countdown for and the medication's name.

The countdown for that medication stops on the card, on the home screen and on the Lock Screen, for everyone caring for your child. Tap Undo if you tapped it by mistake. Other medications keep counting.

The countdown starts again by itself the next time you log a dose of that medication.

You can also stop it when you log the final dose, for example the last dose of an antibiotic course: turn on Last dose on the dose form before you tap Save. To start the countdown again, open that dose and turn off Last dose.

If you logged the dose for more than one person, stopping it also stops the countdown for the others, unless they've had a newer dose of that medication since. The message names everyone it stopped for.

Troubleshooting

  • There's no Next-dose window card: The medication needs an interval. Open the dose, tap the pencil icon next to the medication and fill in Interval (hours).
  • Nothing shows on my Lock Screen (iPhone): Check that Next-dose countdown on Lock Screen is on in Settings, and that Live Activities are allowed for Fever Whiz in your iPhone's Settings.
  • Nothing shows in my notifications (Android): Tap Show on Lock Screen on the card to allow notifications, and check that the Countdowns and timers notifications for Fever Whiz are on in your phone's settings.
  • The Android notification shows a time instead of counting down: Allow alarms and reminders for Fever Whiz in your phone's settings.
  • The countdown shows on one phone but not another: Each phone has its own setting, and both phones need to be online so the dose syncs.
  • "Couldn't stop the countdown. Please try again.": Close and reopen your child's screen, then try again.
