How to Plan the Fastest Pickup and Drop-off Route

When you drive a carpool, Kid Hop lists the stops for the riders in your car and opens them in Apple Maps or Google Maps. With Kid Hop Premium, it also puts the stops in the fastest order and tells you when to leave.

See your route

  1. Open an event and choose the To or From tab.
  2. Tap Directions at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Kid Hop shows Your route: your home, each stop with the riders who get in or out there, and the event.

On the To tab, the route starts at your home, picks everyone up, and ends at the event. On the From tab, it starts at the event, drops everyone off, and ends at your home. Riders who live at the same address share one stop.

Get the fastest order (Premium)

With Kid Hop Premium, the route opens in the fastest order and shows:

  • How long the drive takes and how far it is.
  • How many minutes the fastest order saves, or Already the fastest order when your stops were in it already.
  • Leave by and a time for each stop, for a ride that hasn't started yet.

The route is also drawn on the map, and each stop's pin shows its number.

Without Premium, tap Optimize route to see Kid Hop Premium.

Start driving

  • Tap Apple Maps or Google Maps to open the whole route, stops in order, from where you are now.
  • Tap any stop to get directions to just that stop, for example to pick up where you left off.

The Google Maps button shows only when the Google Maps app is installed.

Set your home

Your route starts or ends at your account's default location. To set it, open the Account tab, tap Locations, tap the menu next to your home, and tap Set As Default.

Troubleshooting

  • "No riders in your car yet." No one is seated in your car for this ride. Tap Add riders to add them.
  • "No home location is set, so the route starts at the farthest stop." Set your home as described above.
  • "Only the driver can plan a route." You aren't driving this ride, so Kid Hop shows every stop on it.
  • A rider is listed under "No address". Add an address for that rider so they're included in the route.
  • "Couldn't optimize the route. Try again." Check your internet connection and tap Retry.
