# How to track a walk with your Wear OS watch

Open Doggy Time on your Wear OS watch, tap your pet, then Walk, and tap the play button. Your watch records the time, distance and route with its own GPS.

Record a walk from your Wear OS watch, with its time, distance and route.
Your watch records it with its own GPS, so your phone can stay at home.

## Start a walk

1. On your watch, open Doggy Time.
2. Tap your pet, then **Walk**.
3. Tap the round play button.
4. The first time, read the **Location Access** message and tap **Agree**.
Then allow location, physical activity and notifications when your watch asks.

While you walk, your watch shows the time and the distance.
On your phone, the walk shows **Recording on your watch**.

## Pause and finish

1. Tap **Pause**.
2. Tap **Resume** to carry on, or **Finish** to end the walk.
3. Tap **Done**.

The walk is saved in Doggy Time with its start, end, distance and map.
To throw the walk away, tap **Discard** while it's paused, then **Discard** again.

## Good to know

- If your phone isn't nearby, the walk waits on your watch.
It's sent to your phone the next time you open Doggy Time on your phone.
- Allow location so the walk has a map.
With only physical activity allowed, your watch records the distance without the route.
- Your watch records one walk at a time.
- If you forget to stop, GPS stops after 6 hours to save your battery.
The timer keeps running until you finish it.
- Other timed activities, like **Sleep** or **Crate**, work the same way, without GPS.
- To log something without a timer, scroll down to **Log without timer**.
- You can finish or discard a watch walk from your phone too.
Pause and resume it on your watch.
- Walks from your Wear OS watch are saved in Doggy Time; they aren't added to Health Connect.
- The Doggy Time watch app is part of Premium.
To set it up, see [How to install the Doggy Time app on your Wear OS watch](https://www.kidplay.tech/help/how-to-install-the-doggy-time-android-wear-os-app).

## Troubleshooting

- **"Will sync when your phone is nearby"**: the walk is saved on your watch.
It's sent to your phone the next time your phone is nearby and you open Doggy Time.
- **The walk has no map**: allow location for Doggy Time in your watch's settings.
On most watches, open Settings, then Apps, then Doggy Time, then Permissions.
- **"A walk is already recording for ..."**: finish that walk first.
- **"GPS stopped. The timer is still running."**: your watch ended the recording, for example when another workout app started.
The route so far is kept.
- **"A premium subscription is required to use this feature."**: the watch app needs Premium.
Check that you're signed in on your phone with the account that has your subscription, then tap **Sync** on your watch.
